Dog Meetup Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 May 2026. This prototype is designed for the Republic of Ireland only.
What Dog Meetup Collects
Dog Meetup collects the information needed to run the meetup service: email address, username, password hash, adult confirmation, selected Republic of Ireland dog park, dog profile details, likes/passes, chats, meetup requests, reports, blocks, export requests, and account deletion requests.
Dog Meetup also keeps compliance records such as the policy versions accepted during sign-up or later in the app, and limited audit records for security-sensitive actions. Audit records may include the action taken, affected record ID, time, device browser/app information, and a hashed version of the network address. They do not store passwords or full message contents.
Precise phone location is optional. When used, it sorts nearby parks on the device; Dog Meetup stores the selected park, not live GPS history.
How The Data Is Used
Data is used for account access, matching dog owners around selected parks, safety controls, abuse prevention, customer support, legal compliance, and service security. Dog Meetup does not sell personal data and does not use advertising tracking in this prototype.
Security
Passwords are hashed on the server. Dog Meetup uses HTTPS/TLS for traffic between the apps, browser, and server. The production launch should also use restricted Google Maps keys, managed database backups, operational monitoring, and reviewed data-retention procedures.
Your Choices
You can export your account data or delete your account from Settings in the app. If you cannot access the app, use the public account deletion request page. You can also request deletion of selected Dog Meetup data without deleting the whole account on the data deletion request page.
Retention
Account data is kept while the account is active. When an account is deleted, associated dog profile, messages, meetups, likes, blocks, and reports linked to that account are deleted unless retention is legally required for safety, security, or regulatory reasons. Deletion request records and minimal audit logs may be kept for up to 24 months. Security logs and encrypted backups are rotated or deleted within 90 days where technically practical.
