Location and Meetup Safety Policy
Last updated: 13 July 2026. Contact: dev@prints3d.org.
Location use
Location permission is optional. Dog Meetup uses device location to sort nearby Republic of Ireland parks and improve local recommendations. Users can deny permission and choose a park manually.
Dog Meetup stores the selected park for matching. Dog Meetup does not store live GPS history.
Public meetup guidance
- Meet only in public parks or public dog-friendly places.
- Follow local council rules, lead requirements, restricted areas, and posted park signs.
- Keep dogs under effectual control, the term used in Irish dog-control guidance, and use leads where required or sensible.
- Leave immediately if a dog, owner, or situation feels unsafe.
Irish dog-owner responsibilities
Owners must check the rules that apply to their dog and place. Irish requirements can include a dog licence, microchip registration, owner-identification details on a collar or harness, cleaning up dog waste, and extra lead and muzzle controls for restricted breeds or types. XL Bully ownership is subject to additional legal requirements. Local authorities are responsible for operational dog control, and posted park rules can be stricter than general guidance.
Current national guidance is available at gov.ie.
Owner responsibility
Dog Meetup helps coordinate introductions. Owners remain responsible for their dog, their own safety, local law compliance, travel, insurance needs, and decisions to attend or leave.
